Marketing & Communication Internship

About Present Your Startup
Foundation Present Your Startup is an accelerator program and a successful pitch event. We connect startups, businesses and investors by organizing events and training programs. Present Your Startup is inspired by the TV-programs Dragons’ Den & Shark Tank, but with an innovative twist. Nowadays, Present Your Startup is also active internationally in Curaçao and New York.

At Present Your Startup we have a flat organization structure which gives you the opportunity to develop yourself and build on your professional network. During your internship, you will be responsible for the online channels of Present Your Startup and for community building of the Present Your Startup network.

The successful candidate will be part of our Marketing & Communication department.


  • create social media content and assist in the creation of Facebook ads;

  • create content for and execute email marketing campaigns;

  • a chance to learn about Google Adwords, Analytics, Facebook Ads;

  • conduct market research for target markets or markets of interest;

  • create and manage content and ad copy for diverse channels;

  • organize promotional events (offline and online);

  • communicate with prospective entrepreneurs of the program;

  • support the marketing manager in strategy development;

  • support the selection committee with processing applications for the program;

  • general support tasks;

  • An opportunity to develop & implement a marketing or communication plan (specific assignment can be discussed).

General requirements
The candidate should be a student at a Dutch or foreign university (with a residence permit for the Netherlands in case they're not an EU citizen) in a graduate/undergraduate (Master/Bachelor) study programme that requires a work placement/ internship.

  • Creative and pro-active attitude in teamwork, but also able to work independently;

  • Able to work on several things at the same time and work with deadlines;

  • International (work) experience in a multicultural environment is an asset;

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Excellent computer skills, especially the usage of Microsoft Office applications.

Specific requirements

  • Students must have successfully completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines: International Business, Communication, Marketing or similar. Any related work experience in those fields is an asset;

  • Candidates must have a strong affinity with marketing, communication, innovation and entrepreneurship;

  • Knowledge, experience and interest in one of the following topic is an asset: communication and marketing concepts, basic marketing theory, digital and online tools, research and analysis;

  • Strong writing skills.

The candidate must be in possession of a Dutch residence permit valid for the total period of the internship or be an EU citizen. Candidates without a permit cannot be accepted.

  • The intern position is available in Haarlem, the Netherlands for a period up to six months (preferred duration) and needs a presence of 40 hrs per week, working regular office hours.

  • The next internship period will start in August and end in February.

  • The starting date for this internship is to be discussed and depends on the available starting date of the candidate and the availability of the internship at that particular time.
